Jordan Gilbert Internship

One exciting aspect of my M.S. research is the collaboration with the Nature Conservancy (TNC) in California, and being able to study their river and floodplain restoration projects across the state. Interacting with these projects will allow me to address some fundamental scientific research questions regarding restoration methods, which can potentially inform future efforts and projects. Additionally, as part of the UM BRIDGES program, I will be completing a four-month internship with TNC. To fund this internship and create this opportunity, my advisor and I applied for a supplement from NSF, which we were awarded.

I am especially excited about this part of my M.S. program because an internship of this scope with an organization like TNC is an uncommon and valuable opportunity for a graduate student. Beyond the scientific training, the internship will also allow me to gain professional training that is not typically a part of graduate education. I will gain exposure into the planning, implementation, and monitoring of large restoration projects, and have direct involvement in the entire process. I look forward to an awesome experience interning with the type of organization that I may end up having a career with.
